The snakes finally got here at 8 p.m. Shipped under Ship Your Reptiles via UPS. Three of them were out of their individual containers, so now we have to go through the process of identifying which het is which, and then which one is normal. The het albino female was doa. The het pied female may not make it. There was another doa, and we don't know which one it was yet. Out of the five shipped a total of two doa, one severe heat trama and two that we are also watching closely. On the box there was a label stating "live harmless reptiles, do not place directly in the sun, do not leave in extreme heat" These little babies were in the back of the UPS truck for thirteen hours. The day started out with temps in the high nineties, and then dropped to the upper eighties around noon thanks to some thunderstorms passing through the area.
I feel sorry for all five of the babies, especially the doa's. That had to have been one of the worst possible feelings of impending death. To be so very hot and not be able to thermoregulate your temperature. I'm a grown man. Thirty three years old. I cannot begin to express how sad I feel at such a waste. I love all of our animals that we have collected through the years. I should have made sure to have them held at the shipping hub and picked them up. I won't make the same mistake again.
