Sunglows dipped in ...

treystowell Aug 11, 2010 11:37 AM

Ever wonder what happens if you take pink & red easter egg die packs, mix it with % Nolvasan/water base solution and then dip your sunglows in it ... LOL ... okay jokes a side ...

This litter (both sunglows and albinos) really exceeded my expectations ... showing the color they are at birth/already has me really anxious to see how they are gonna color up from here-on.

On to the first shed pictures of some of my favorites from this litter ...

These first two are my keeper females and are two of the most intensely colored babies in the litter (at this point at least):

Then these four males from the litter I currently have on the 'holdback shelf' and keeping an eye on:

And then here is one of the less coloful male sunglows (nice contrast though) for a reference to the more colorful siblings above to help show the range of what the litter threw:

I hope everyone enjoys the pics and that everyone is doing well with litters this year (to date). As always thanks a million for looking and ...

Warm Regards to All

Trey you are the perfect example of someone taking their time to research and learn and search for the right animals to own in order to produce the best examples of a morph! Congrats to you on your hard work. Seriously those Sunglow are sick!

I cant wait to see updated pics of your Cherry Salmons!

Thanks John ... hope to have the last 3 litters of babies taken soon. The PC/Aby salmons, Cherry/Aby salmons and 25% Guyanan Sunglow litter (which was fathered by same '08 male sunglow as this litter).

Will be sure to send some pics your way as soon as I have them shot!

Wow Trey they are really something !!

If this male here had been an option , I would have
had a very hard time deciding

That Sunglow Boa rocks he looks very close to what the father of
the litter looked like color wise as a youngster

I was wondering what bloodline those came from? I had a litter out of my triple hets which one of the albinos that came out was pink, pink, pink somewhat like yours, then i had 2 more (1 with a small eye) that have almost brown colored saddles instead of red.

treystowell Aug 12, 2010 07:10 PM

The father of this litter was a male sunglow I produced in 2008 that I bred to a very well muscled '05 coral albino (from Shane Kinney). That male sunlgow (father of the litter) is where the color comes from (see next paragraph) and was produced here in 2008 from breeding a het. stripeline normal bred to a super pink Dh sunglow female.

Going back even further ... the salmon line (as a non-het) was from Rich Ihle. In 2005 I bought a really pink female Dh sunglow off the classifieds that caught my eye from some guy who produced a small litter of Dh's and hets using a coral albino male bred to a high-pink (as he called it) non-het salmon female (from Rich). There were only a few Dh's in the litter and the guy kept one or two and sold a few.

That is about all I know about the salmon line that I produced the sunglow father with back in 2008 (when I bred a male het stripeline normal to that Dh sunglow female). Gave me a smallish litter (12 babies total) ... 2 male sunglows, 1 female albino and then some 66% Dh's/hets ... of which I kept one of the male sunglows who was the father of this litter.

Hope that answers your curiousity
