Parents are Amel Het for Opal (Lavender)

I hatched out a clutch to the above parents. I got 2 opals, mostly amels and then 3 or 4 of this lighter color snake. Now, I have seen a variety of amels before, but this is not one of em. This is much lighter. More like a Hypo look to an amel. Tell me what you think.

I can't remember which link to use, so forgive me if I get it wrong the first time

A very good possibility is that the hatchling actually IS an opal, as that is indeed what many of them look like as hatchlings, and the one there with NO pattern is actually a "snopal" that is also homozygous from the parents both being het for anery.

From the genetics you listed from both parents..."both amels, het opal(lavender/amel) an opal is the only phenotype you would get that resembles the lighter one there that is lighter than the other amel's. but if you figure in the parents being het for anerythrism, it would indeed look like the one with little to no pattern there.

Just an educated guess there..LOL!

Another tid-bit that might add some confusion to this as well is.....I'm pretty sure "opals" can display a very subdued pattern as well, and that they can look VERY similar to a "snopal"..LOL!

Confusing??,......uh, yes!!

was thinking the same thing

amel, opal and ,snopal maybe...

I had pure colorless ones hatch , no idea any anery was or is in the line...never got an anery in 20 years from my lav lines...other people say they did....I got 3 colorless....they grew up aztec with a screaming yellow pattern on white...one still here....female....

.....good guess DM......I'd agree....

Yeah, it seems almost anything can be possible these days..LOL!

That is pretty bizzare about your outcomes that never displayed anerythrism in all those years, then other did from the same thing..LOL!

genetics is strange alright!..LMAO!!
