My first ever BP pippies!

SlytherLyn Aug 11, 2010 09:40 PM

My first ever BP clutch started to pip today, day 65. Just Normals, 66% het caramel, but they are beautiful to me Can't wait till they decide to come the rest of the way out. They pipped on their own. I have a 3rd one who also pipped but was camera shy and wouldn't stick his nose out so I don't have a pic of him yet.

Parents are both proven hets. Another one poked it's head out and at first glance looks like might be a Caramel. But then he ducked back in.... Waiting anxiously for him to peek out again.... If so I hope he's healthy and not kinked. So far none of them have come all the way out. They really like their eggs.

Here are the parents. This is my first time breeding them but the breeder I bought them from did produce Caramels from them so they are for sure hets.

There were 3 caramels in the clutch. Two are alive but won't be for long. The other is already in the freezer. I didn't mention them because I'm so sad about it and am trying to just concentrate on the healthy babies instead... the caramels never stood a chance... they were beyond being able to be saved. I've lost alot of my enthusiasm for the caramel projects I had planned. I do own a beautiful healthy female Carmel who is the daughter of my het female, so she is capable of producing healthy caramel babies. I incubated too wet and too cool. If I do try for caramels again I'll incubate warmer and dryer and maybe have better results.
