Sadly I only got 3 healthy babies from a 9 egg clutch. The rest of the clutch was a disaster which I'll share another day in a separate post. Right now I want to push those negatives away and just concentrate on the 3 that did survive and look to be beautiful healthy kids. They are Normals, 66% poss het Caramel. The one in the lower right I'm hoping turns out to be a girl as that's the one I'd like to keep. I'm so excited. They were still in their eggs when I went to bed after midnight, and all out this morning when I woke up, so all 3 get a Friday the 13th hatch date Not as exciting as all the fancy morph babies everyone else is posting, but they are my first ever ball python hatchlings so are super exciting to me at least. All 3 have patternless bellys. Do baby balls develop the pattern on their bellys as they grow?

congrats!!!!! i too hatched my first clutch this year, got 10 eggs and ended with 6 babies 2 slugs, 1 went bad in incubation and i had cut if away from the other 2 it was connected to and then the little bit of shell that was still on the good egg ended up molding and taking out a good egg. from a pastel male to norm female i hit the jackpot with 3 norm and 3 pastel, 2 female pastels and 1 male and same results with the normals. and as far as im aware if they have clean bellies they stay clean bellies.

Sorry about your loss. Congrats on what looks to be three very healthy baby balls. I think in this hobby from what I have read losing eggs is just part of the stress. I could not imagine losing eggs my self. I am sure it was hard.

The feeling of getting up in the morning and see the babies in the incubator is super.

Lunar-Ball Reptiles

I weighed them, two are 81 grams, the other 89 grams. I've never hatched baby balls before so am unsure if that is good or bad. I did get some babies last year when they were a few weeks old and they were in the 50s though, so based on that I think 80s are good. Unfortunately I discovered that my "keeper" has a kinked tail. I'm heart broken. Still keeping him/her as I still love him and would not feel comfortable bringing him to the reptile show or selling him to a pet store. It's not enough to prevent him/her from living a long healthy life. I do demos with my reptiles and could use a nice normal ball as a pet/demo rather than taking my morph breeders so I have a nitch for him to stay here where he'll be much loved in spite of his little kinks...

These are my first ever baby Ball Pythons hatchlings. I also hatched Corns for the first time this year. I have bred Cali Kings, Leopard Geckos, and Crested Geckos in the past, so these aren't my first baby reptiles or even baby snakes, but first baby Ball Pythons!!! It's a mix of happy/sad and was a learning experience for me as far as incubation method. As you can see from my sig line I've been working the last couple years building up a nice morph group. Only a couple of the morphs will be breeding size this year, but the rest will be good to go the following year. Hopefully by then I will have perfected the incubation technique and will have better luck hatching out healthy babies. I do have a small 3 egg clutch incubating that are on day 50 right now from a Dinker pair. All 3 eggs look good so fingers crossed they will be healthy.
