I had a call to remove a copperhead frome someones yard, they had kids so by my book it was a emerchcy. Im only 15 so im in high school, I had to ask the pricable if i could go to remove the snake. He said it was ok.
I went to the home and found the copper easaly, I got out my tongs and rubbermade trash can. I picked up the snake and put in in the can. I scewed the lid on and paced the can in my grandmoms car. I grabed so flyers i give out to tell others how to make the home snake free, like pick up all bords and tin.....
They where actullay MAD at me after i got over the shock of it i ask why they said they had exspected a good show. I told them I was here to remove a snake not jump up and downe on tv and say CRAKY HE ALMOST GOT MY MATE! lol has anyone ever had this happen to you.

I suppose all I'll say is good job on the apparently safe rescue.
You should have someone take pictures to show your Principal exactly what he is letting you out of class to do.

Nicely done Mouse. I still don't know if I take the kid seriously or not. But in the event he is.... Croc hunter has no place in removals! Do it safely and effectively. If the folks want a show they can call others. If they want the animal removed REMOVE IT SAFELY!

Well, the kid is obviously interested in snakes, and seems to be willing to learn responsible handling. He seems to have a good attitude about it. I feel that's a great start. And that's what it is. We all have to start somewhere. (Or were you all born knowing everthing there is to know about snakes?)
I would have to support him for his interests and efforts. So, he may be young, but I think it's great to have developed an interest at a young age. I support my children in devloping their interests.
I appluad this young man. Keep it up. (Safely!)

Why, thank you!

May the hair grow well between your toes.

BGF Sep 26, 2003 05:14 PM

Only if you'll come over and braid it

Stryder Sep 26, 2003 06:49 PM

It'd be an honor to braid your toe hairs, my dear!

Can i play with your snake, too?

AnonEMouse Sep 26, 2003 07:11 PM

You two need to get a room!
Besides, I thought BGF was an avid swimmer who shaved all the wayward hairs from his immaculate frame.
Can you imagine having to shave between your toes?
Of course not!

Nice job on the removal. I'd probably have used a hook instead of tongs, but that's just my personal preference.

At the risk of sounding like this is becoming a love fest... this is more like I envisioned this forum to be.

Good job, kid! I can't help but wonder, just what kind of "show" did they expect? Did they expect you to grab it with your bare hands, hold it up, play with it, and maybe get bit? In that case, I'd be glad they were disappointed! (But you might want to start working on your Aussie accent! LOL)

So it actually turned out to be a copperhead, huh? (You know how many of these "copperhead" calls turn out to be water snakes, rat snakes, garter snakes, etc.) So what did you do with it afterward?

meretseger Sep 26, 2003 07:42 AM

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
