New Speckled King

a153fish Aug 14, 2010 12:48 AM

My daughter who lives just outside of New Orleans brought me a nice surprise. Besides seeing her since two years and that she is pregnant with my grandson, she brought me a 3 foot Speckled King. I already had 2 females from the New orleans area and have been hoping to aquire a male from the same area. Kevin has been diligently searching for a male for me, but we just couldn't seem ti find one. I knew she was bringing it but didn't know the sex of the King. Well turns out it's a male! He is beautiful and super tame too. This is sentimental for me cause my first 2 snakes as a kid growing up in NO were Speckleds. Now I just have to try to get the females up to size by breeding season. Kevin thanks for all your efforts I appreaciate it man!

Killer speck there man, AND the right sex to boot!

Things worked out great for you as we were hoping bro!

Just quarantine it and look REAL good for any mites before putting him with the rest of your stuff..LOL!!

Would hate to hear about a catastrophe later on.

great find your daughter made man, that is SWEET!

Yeah thanks Doug. I really got excited over it. It's so tame. I also picked up a pair of Chain kings from Mark(Crimson King)! I didn't get a chance to take pictures of them yet but I'll be sure to post some tomorrow. This was a good day

That is a very nice speckled. What Parish was the male caught in? Are the two females that you are working with from the same Parish as well?
I am working with a group of LaFourch Parish, Louisiana speckleds and finally got a fertile clutch of nine eggs a few weeks ago (I bred my snakes later this year). Very much looking forward to seeing these babies hatch out.

Hey Brad sorry I didn't get back to you sooner man. I got so much going on right now. But The male was caught in Kenner I believe that's Jefferson Parish and the Females were both caught by Kevin M. One was on the west Bank of NO which should be Orleans Parish and the other was caught by the Spillway. Not sure what Parish that is. I haven't lived there in well over 25 years. These guys have a sentimental value to me for sure since this is what I used to catch as a kid. My first and second snakes ever where Specks!
