keeping babies moist in egg after cuttin

adamjeffery Aug 14, 2010 10:09 AM

so i came home yesterday and 3 of 7 eggs had pipped so i went ahead and cut the other 4. 2 of the babies in the eggs still have yolk that is visible. i believe i have read you must put saline or water in to keep them moist? im not sure what to use and how much, i wouldn't want them to drown and i don't want them to dry up either.
any and all help would be appreciated.
also the breeding was a het red axanthic male to a normal female. it appears that 5 are het red axanthic's....ill have a better idea when they are out of the eggs and shed.
thanks

No need to add water or saline. They won't dry out as long as all or most of the fluid that was in the egg stayed there. If you cut really low on the egg and the fluid drained out, then you may have a problem. I always cut early and have never had a hatchling dry out in the egg.
