What is the story with Dixoni? Why is there so little, if any in the hobby? I can barely find any information on them, at thats not just in Europe, thats you guy's too! (States)

I think some if it may have to due with popularity and availability. Good specimens may be hard to find, or unreliable. Or, it never really took off in popularity for one reason or another. I have noticed several subspecies of milk that were very popular and fairly expensive in the mid-90s have all but fallen off the face of the earth these days!!!
Scott, it is all about the politics of Mexico/US importation. But I am STILL very surprised none to speak of at all have ever surfaced in the hobby.
They are very distinctive, and no mistaking a genuine dixoni to those that know about these little beasties. They are heavily melanized, and have very thick black rings that can typically cross-over the red rings to the opposite black rings. And a solid black snout.
Shannon told me about actually seeing ONE pair for sale MANY YEARS ago, but by the time he walked around and pondered the idea of actually getting them,..he returned to buy them a bit later and found some dude from Europe bought them just seconds before, and away they went into the sunset back to Europe!!!
Those are the ONLY ones I have ever heard of appearing in the states, but I am reasonably sure, someone SOMEWHERE has some in a nice private collection and simply keeping them low-key to the rest of the hobby.

Thanks for that Doug, It's nice to know that pair may have possibly produced some young over here in Europe, makes a change. Although, I Haven't heard of any available. I imagine they were WC too.
I would love to acquire a pair of these, but I'm sure all of us milk heads would. Such a shame there are none.
Sure thing man!
Yeah Scott, if Shannon ever chimes in about it, he could tell us exactly what size they were that he saw for sale, and if they were captive-bred offspring or W/C adults, etc...
Hopefully whoever got those has propagated some by now, but who the heck knows. Yes, we would all LOVE to see some of those here as well.
Same thing with amel Scarlet kings. They have been out there in the past(and even now), but you don't see any of those for sale in the hobby either.
I saw one W/C amel SK back in 1996 that a guy overturned while raking his yard, and was thinking about buying some hets the guy produced, but I passed them up and went about getting some other stuff at the time. Wish I DID score some of those hets now though..LOL!..geez!
