Happy days are here again, cool babies!!

rainbowsrus Aug 18, 2010 04:36 PM

Like I posted earlier I went into the BRB room this morning to check on one BRB (Eve) who is due tomorrow. Of course she hadn't dropped anything yet but I did notice in the next cage over a lil squirmer hanging on a loose piece of molding that keeps the glass from rattling in the door (crappy pic and color is way off)...

So I'm thinking "cool, Harriet dropped her babies". Over a week early but the couple I saw out looked nice and healthy and I did notice they had very bold crescents like mommy and daddy. Harriet is a small female and this is her first litter. I did detect lil baby heart beats last month so I knew she was gravid but was not big and huge so only expecting a few. I really had to get to work so no time to any more than pull the hide box and snap a few quick pics......

Have you noticed anything yet? I honestly did not this morning. One more in the hide just born pic...

Then of course I had to put them back and go to work only to find out the meeting I had to be there for was canceled at the last minute - UGH!!!!

I work close enough to go home for "lunch" and did so to take care of the new babies. I know they would be fine without my intervention but I do so love to see the new lil ones. Any ways, when I started to pull the babies I finally noticed something very different about several of them and very cool I might add. See it yet????

How about in this one?

You've got to be seeing what I see by now!!!!

If not then these next pics for sure.......

WOOHOO, striped/aby BRB's!!!!! Both Mom and dad are aberrant but some of the kiddies took it to a new level.

Final count 10 live babies, several with lateral striping. No stills, no slugs. Most were 31 grams each with a few over or under by one gram.

Hey Dave, congratulations on another awesome litter. Those stripes are remarkable. As you already know, I had a litter drop today also and I should have some pics up shortly. Wow, those stripes really are stunning.

I've seen a lot in the line with aberrancy but not seen any with striping like that. I was going for more babies like mom and dad!!!

i said it last year, and i will say it again.
Your going to need a bigger snake room!!!!
Because you know there is a few holdbacks in that litter

im guessing its just some line bred trait?
how awesome would it be though if it was an genetic abby/striped gene to actually play with

cheers

Honestly do not know if they are siblings but they were produced by the same breeder. I acquired them through a third party.

Yup, more holdbacks!!!! Room can't get any bigger so eventually going to have to trim back some where. No, not Elvis, Savannah, Phoenix, Bam Bam etc etc.

Give me some years and we'll know.

Congrats on this litter (as well as your other litters)! I think that one with the side patterns all smeared together is defective, but since I feel sorry for it I can give it a good home. I'll pm you my address.

rainbowsrus Aug 18, 2010 07:06 PM

Yeah. I'd just feel too bad to impose this one on anyone. Therefore it'll just have to stay with me!!!

congrats dave you are one lucky guy. you always get the goodies lol. At first im looking going jeesh now he mad a "motley" rainbow boa. very cool and congrats on the litter

rainbowsrus Aug 19, 2010 01:12 PM

Thanks Tim, Yeah Luck has something to do with it but even more is the extensive nature of my collection and my current plans for in-crossing to look for hidden treasures. I always thought out-crossing was the best way to go until I realized if you ALWAYS out-cross, you'll NEVER find a recessive trait. Not that I will in-cross extensively, just enough to see what might be there. Mostly when there is something visual going on and want to refine it.

Thanks Aubrey, Yeah I was pretty excited when I first noticed the aberrant patterns. I knew they'd be uber bold crescents because of mom and dad. I did not know they'd throw stripes!!! Soooo cool!!!!!!
