New baby feeding

DiamondFlame10 Aug 19, 2010 11:13 PM

I have a new 2010 female spider. she was hatched on 7-11-10 and shed around 7-19-10. She refused her food on 7-22. She ate a live fuzzy mouse 8-10. I bought her on 8-14. She refused 8-16 and 8-19. It was a frozen fuzzy mouse. Should I try giving her a live until she's eaten a few times? She only weighs 71g, so I'm a little worried of not feeding her. She seems really active. She's in a 6 qt sterilite and she's really active. She's been trying to push the top open and stuff.

Feed her live.
Hatchlings are hard to get on frozen/thawed. They like movement.
You can switch her once she's like 400 grams.

I switched my pastel who is about a month older than she but he ate 7 times already compared to her once. I think I'm going to try live just to make sure she's willing to eat,. That's my only concern. She's only eaten once in a month and a half and I like her too much to lose her lol

Some babies switch over fast, others never do. None of my babies have switched over, so I just feed em what works. (Live)

I feed live until the prey barely has a chance to hit the floor of the tub before getting grabbed, then I work on switching to F/T. It's usually a minimum of 5 live feedings before that, sometimes more. Some don't ever seem willing to switch, and I'm generally too impatient to wait them out.

I'm trying a live hopper mouse right now. I tried to put it next to her and I think it grabbed her or bit her or something but I couldn't find a bite. Is it safe to leave it in there with her??? I have a towel over her tub so that she stays somewhat dark to try to get her to eat.
