Here are some more offspring from 5 miles east of town and a pic of dad (collected in 2005) in the SE corner this time. I've put up some of these pics before, but I'm kind of bored today...lol.

Nice . Wheres the SE corner?
Sorry, dad is the pic in the SE corner. LOL. All my wc alterna from the long cut 5 miles east of town were collected near the apex of the cut.

Nice snakes Robert. I sent you a PM.

0.0.5 Normal (het hypo, lavender, striped) cornsnake hatchlings
1.2 Gray-banded kingsnakes, blairs phase
1.1 Oregon rubber boas
I thought East Andersons were typically dark? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

East Sanderson has a wide array. In my estimation medium to dark average looking Blair's with medium to brick orange probably make up 50 to 60% of the populations. The rest can run the gamut from very light to very dark Blair's and alterna phases. They all tend towards a low to medium band count. One of the coolest things about them is that the dark phases can have really nice bone white borders outside the black, that really sets off the other colors IMHO. Sometimes they even have a little speckling but usually not much. The speckling can often be increased with captive breeding but usually not to the same extent as in the true western localities.

Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so check out the East Sanderson specimen images under Terrell County (Image Gallery), and then the pics from the story “Eight is Great” ON THE ALTERNA PAGE. Here’s a recap of the finds:
Alterna #1 – 10 miles east (Sanderson)
Alterna #2 – 8 miles north (Dryden)
Alterna #3 – 10 miles east (Sanderson)
Alterna #4 – 5 miles east (Sanderson)
Alterna #5 – 10 miles north (Dryden)
Alterna #6 – 10 miles east (Sanderson)
Alterna #7 – 5 miles east (Sanderson)
Alterna #8 – 10 miles north (Dryden)
Out of five alterna collected that trip from east Sanderson, only one was dark-phase, one was medium-phase and then the rest were light-phase. The light alterna-phase female that produced all of the offspring in the pics that I put up was collected in 2003 as a yearling from 5 miles east of Sanderson. I think it is possible that light and alterna-phase is an uncommon morph east of town. At least, that is what my eyes have told me…lol.

All the ones I remebered seing have been dark. I have three females thatI got a good deal on and they are dark. Two were not very dark at first but as they grow they just keep getting darker and darker. The one that was dark as a hatchling is black now.
