motley rootbeer....

draybar Aug 21, 2010 07:14 PM

I know a lot of you don't care for the "mixes" but I like them so you will have to put up with pics of my evil hybrids...lol
sorry......not!
I will throw in a ghost hatchling first for you purists...lol
next we have a nice rootbeer motley followed by either a cinnamon or rootbeer motley. I'm leaning towards cinnamon but I have had cinnamons and rootbeers that have looked almost identical. It will probably take a few more sheds for me to be certain..
thanks for looking

...what are the "mixes" in cinnamon and rootbeer? No matter what it is, they are both good looking snakes!

hey Rob,
Rootbeers are "normal" phase emoryi/corn crosses
cinnamons are emoryi/corn crosses expressing hypomelanism

yeah I guess I could add creamsicles are emoryi/corns expressing amelanism
snowsicles are emoryi/corns expressing anerythrism and amelanism.

haven;t really seen a definitive name for the anery emoryi/corns.

there are and will be more combinations that may or may not ever be named

some hate the idea of trade names altogether but almost every morph out there ends up with a trade name. Trade names are a part of the business/hobby and here to stay.

I think it can help...it is pretty much common knowledge throughout the hobby that creamsicles have emoryi blood and most people realize rootbeers are emoryi/corns so hopefully its just a matter of time before people start to regonize other trade names such as cinnamon to be emoryi/corn crosses..

And of course you have those that would gladly freeze every known emoryi/corn cross out there but we will not go into that at this time!

I love the hybrids. One good breeder male is an anery rootbeer het motley and amel and then I have a nice big creamsicle female too.

I just don't see how people can bash on the hybrids when they even occur naturally in the wild...
