Nokturnel Tom Aug 22, 2010 11:31 AM

Male was double het Chocolate - Albino and is a Banana King.
Female is a Chocolate Banana het Albino
I love these "blotched/spotted" looking ones! Especially the super melanistic freaky one!

Thats the combo to make Blizzards (albino & hypermelanistic).

Cool cal kings.

Are you talking about the last photo?

There are some chocolate bananas in there as well. The banded ones are cool too.

Changing from a baby to an adult.

Here is a similar one, but more banded.

Its its interesting how your snake's hypermelanism looks different than Tom's snake. Did you use the Davis/Mendota form of hypermelanism to create your snake, Kerby?

Davis, Mendota, Baja, Chocolate Bananas all = the SAME hypermelanism gene. I produced some "Mendota" looking cal kings again this year right along with solid chocolate cal kings to hypermelanistic banded cal kings. All the same gene.

But since there is a lot of variance is cal king patterns (banded, stripe, aberrancies), and variance in color (black to brown, white to yellow), then there will be variance in hypermelanism. Just like in cal king albinos (not suppose to look the same).

Here we have an Albino High White, an Albino Banana, and the bottom one is a Lavender.

The top two are the SAME gene (albinism) but look nothing alike. There is the same variance in hypermelanism.

Great info!

Davis, Mendota, Baja, Chocolate Bananas all = the SAME hypermelanism gene. I produced some "Mendota" looking cal kings again this year right along with solid chocolate cal kings to hypermelanistic banded cal kings. All the same gene.

That's exactly what I wanted to know. Here in L.A. Co. there are also those "Mendota" looking hypermelanistic kings with aberrant patterns, along with bandeds that seem to be the same hypermelanistic gene (Whittier morphs, not the Grease kings), and some very reduced pattern to solid brown individuals. I long suspected they were all of the same gene but wasn't sure. If the Mendota and Baja's are compatible, I bet the ones here are compatible with them as well. Thanks.

I want to know if you have seen many like this one and if so do they have a name?
How would you describe it?
I got 4 Chocolate Bananas [a record]
an Albino het Chocolate.
a Banana and the 2 spotted/blotched ones

I have produced the pattern before on normals and albinos but never like this...it looks like a blotched chocolate?

It is a hypermelanistic.

Not sure what else.

Nice batch! I like the shot of the two together with the same pattern. One normal, one hypermelanistic. Very cool.

Chocolate Banana (hypermelanistic) x banana (het hypermelanistic).

Hey Pat!
I have my old stand by, MBKs... but most other stuff comes from het projects.
I just got back 1.1 MBKs I produced a few years back, so next season I should have a ton of those. I got a good sex ratio on my recent clutch. Still one of my favorite Kings
