Newbie has questions.

I'm thinking about geting into Leos. These'll be my first lizards ever. I've done alot of research, but have still have a few questions:
1. Are there any good staple foods other than crickets? I live in an apartment and the neighbors would kill me if there were fugitive crickets hopping around the building . I've seen conflicting info on going to a all mealworm diet.
2. What about flightless fruit flies? Those any good for geckos?
3. Any recommendations on breeders that sell sexable geckos, so I can get 2 females? Preferably they'd be the less expensive "normal" leopard geckos, rather than designer or high color.

Thanks in advance for any info!

About the fruit flies... I KNOW there tiny. I was just thinking about using them to add a little variety to the diet.

Also. I feed mostly mealies and wanted to stick to that for the pretty much the same reason, I didn't want loose crickets.
Well. I have heard lots of people in here say they have never had problems on just mealies. But...I got to feeling sorry for my leo and offered him some crickets. Well, he likes them better. He will still eat mealies occationaly but prefers crickets at times so I think they like having a variety.
Also with the loose cricket thing. They don't live for long loose by themselves and they don't get out all that easy. I keep mine in a tank with toilet paper rolls. When I want to clean I let the crickets get down to just a few. Transfer them to another dish and clean the tank then put the old ones back in with new rolls and a clean floor and put add new crickets. I only have had like 2 escape and I caught both of them.

As far as what else you can feed I have seen other post things about other food alternatives but I will let someone else that has experience with that answer that question.

Good luck. Read lots and get the Leopard Gecko handbook

Well, I use mealworms as a staple and I think they are great. They don't smell, don't jump, and don't make noise. They are also really hardy and won't die in two days like crickets will. They gutload really well and are easy to raise in a small area. I highly recommend them. No, they cannot eat their way out of a leo's stomach. That is a silly myth.
As for getting leos, you could go to a reptile show and find young, female leos for cheap but are still in good condition. Or visit a reptile place.

I use mealworms as a staple they don't smell as much as crickets and they are easy to breed, but i also offer my geckos superworms(if the geckos are big enough), waxworms, crickets, butterworms, silkworms, and the occasional pinky
