Peruvian Rainbow Boa Litter

Jeff Clark Aug 23, 2010 04:20 PM

I got home from Daytona last night and found that Amy a 2005 Peruvian had laid her litter. There were 14 perfect babies and two slugs. It looked like they had been born earlier in the day. Amy is a darker and deeper red snake than Valerie, the very orange snake that had a litter last weekend. Amy looks thin and dull after delivering this litter. The father of this litter is Ray. Ray is orange-red and looks like a typical Brazilian Rainbow except for the larger scales and lower scale count of a Peruvian. The babies in this litter look more like their father than their mother. They have less of the thick dark markings of most of my Peruvians and overall have less dark pigment and look lighter and prettier than the dark typically Peruvian looking babies in the Valerie litter.

Jeff,

Congratulations on another nice litter. Man, I wish I could get another snake, I really like the Peruvians.

Thanks,
Ed

All 14 ate live pinky rats. I have not sexed them yet.
