Young Cuban substrate

My son picked up a baby Cuban this last weekend at the Daytona show and we were wondering what would be the best substrate for a terrarium set-up while indoors. We do plan on building an outdoor enclosure.

Personally I use alfalfa pellets(rabbit feed). It is safe for them to eat and maybe even good for them, it absorbs moisture and odors, and makes cleanup easy. You can pick it up pretty cheap at most feed stores.
