I have varanids currently but I'm thinking about adding some cyclura n. nublia or cornuta to my collection. I was wondering besides diet was there any real husbandry difference. Can you house them w/ other cyclura?

There are many differences in proper husbandry between most varanids and Cyclura Iguanas. Cyclura are not burrowers so a deep substrate is not needed; as a matter of fact, any loose substrate could prove to be dangerous as an iguana could ingest it. Cyclura do not require the high basking temps that most varanids need. Basking temps suitable for a Green Iguana are sufficient for Cyclura, 95-100 degrees. They do require UVB. Also, varanids are pretty easy to feed. Cyclura iguanas thrive on a varied diet, lots of leafy greens and vegetables. As for keeping several together, it depends on the individual animals. I've had good success keeping adult pairs housed together...my different females have to be kept separated. All of them are coexisting with Green Iguanas very well. Best of luck.
What kind of monitors do you keep? I keep a few myself, including a Water, Blackthroat, and Savs. I'm also currently boarding a 6+ foot Nile and a pair of Black Roughnecks. I kept an 8 foot Croc temporarily for a friend. All of them are marvelous creatures but nothing compares to my Cyclura.
