Shes quite LARGE 2500 grams, so i mean a 31 qt tub is like really small for her she cant even come close to stretching out. lol.

DiamondFlame10 Aug 27, 2010 02:53 PM

I've talked to people about using the 41 qt rubbermaid containers. Keep in mind though that snakes like smaller spaces... so chances are even if she has space to "stretch out" she wont' want to.

I have a large female. She's over 2500 grams and about 5 ft long. She's in a 34qt Sterilite tub and loves it. The guy we got her from kept her in a huge aquarium and frequently had problems with her striking, to the point that he considered her to be aggressive. Since we got her we haven't had any problems. She eats well and is gaining weight. Never tries to strike us. Your girl should be fine in a similar size tub.

I have a 3000 female in a 40 breeder critter with a big cave. She'll be moving into my CB70 rack once she's past her quarantine which is why she's temporarily in another room in the 40 breeder. I know alot of other people posted it's OK to keep them in small tubs but I would worry over their ability to properly thermoregulate if they don't have enough room to have a hot side and cool side. I think the CB 70 size bins are large enough to allow for a nice temperature range for them and I do think it's good for them to be able to stretch out a little if they want. If you don't have enough snakes to warrant getting an actual rack you can still get CB70 sized tubs in the store or other sweater box size ones, just have to find a way to keep the lids on securely if not doing them in an actual rack which might be a challenge. Here is a video showing the snakes I have in my CB70 including a female who is over 2000 grams, not quite 2500 but you can see how well she fits in there and a 2500 one would fit fine too. Or if you wanted to go with a tank a 40 breeder would work nicely and then you wouldn't have to worry as much about trying to keep the lid secure on a tub that wasn't in a rack. Here is a photo of a female bigger than yours in a 40 breeder tank. The link to the video is under the photo.

I use boaphile rhinoraxx, the blanket box size-I think they are 32 quart. I have a 5.5 foot female that breeds every year and eats great in that tub. I'm not even sure she'd make use of a bigger space if I gave it to her.

i have 12 snakes, but this is by about 1800 grams my biggest snake, i have a heat pad that takes up about a quarter of the tub, so she has room to go from hot side to cool side. im so excited to have her! now its just time to get my spider up to weight and see if i can get some spiders this year!!! long hard wait to get her but it was worth it. cant wait til she sheds so i can show you all!!! thought about naming her raspucia from norbit haha but i went with big mama instead. haha
