Nile producing lots of saliva

twillis10 Aug 27, 2010 03:23 PM

I noticed while feeding my nile he produces a lot of saliva. When I just put the food in his cage and let him eat I dont notice it, but sometimes when I feed mice (frozen thawed) I make him chase it around the cage a little before giving it to him. when I do this thick clear saliva just pours out of his mouth. This is something I just noticed last week and and have had it happen once again since then. He is around 40", growing fast and seems to be perfectly healthy. I dont think there is anythin wrong just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Are your temps correct? Basking surface spot of 120 ? Air temps up to par? I've seen this before in reptile shops where they don't heat their monitors properly.

I'm not saying you aren't holding proper temps but just the first thing I would check if you haven't already. Hmmm
