This might be a dumb question, but what is the difference between mystics and mojaves? at a local shop here, we had both in and they didn't look much different to me. I was also told that mystics look a lot like mojaves when they are adults.... so.. what's the difference?

biggest difference is one makes a white snake with light gray on the head the other makes purpleish reduced snake that there is a lot less of them than there are BELs. Its not what they look like its what they make in other words.

So if I were to go to a store and see a snake being called a mystic, I basically should take their word for it? Because I won't actually know until I breed the snake?

& that would be a very nieve decision. they may have real mystics/phantoms and if they do they will have the documents to prove there origin this is a morph where you dont have to take a chance on getting burnt on! because there are pleanty of legitimate breeder`s to buy this mutation from without going off a random pet shops word! whats the price on there mystic`s ????? its possible the owner of this paticular store may be a private breeder as well and has them that way! but pet shops just dont buy these type`s of expensive morphs because investmeant herps are for serious breeders and collectors not the average joe that walks in a pet shop! therefore theres no profitt margin... especially when they have mojaves right next to them for a fraction of the price of mystics and people like youreself cant tell a difference so would you buy the 2000.00 dollor animal or the 200.00$ animal? and while mystics are more valuble actually mojaves are in most cases the brighter better looking of the 2 morphs just my opinion but im just looking out for you you asked and i told you my thoughts on it always be carefull there are pleanty of great breeders to buy these morphs from with 100% confidence in them being what there supposed to be.. why take a chance on some pet shops word? not me! regard`s

The pet store I was referring to does sell quality animals. I know the owner fairly well and the people who work there, so I'm not really concerned about getting it there (it has already been sold). I was just curious. I don't plan on getting one at all as of yet He is a private breeder as well so a lot of his ball pythons were bred by the owner. But yea, I would always go to a reputable breeder and for something like that I would make sure they back up their genetics and hopefully provide some sort of guarantee for breeders. The Mojave was $200 and the mystic was... $1200 I think.

that sounds about right! and very possible being a private breeder i was just looking out for you because usually a pet store wont have a animal of that quality but people take them to pet stores all the time and the pet shops just go by what the seller tells them they are! just the other day my good friend contacts me with a pic some guy sends him of a boa he claims to have produced wich was a het blond/russian t-positive (bci`s) boa constrictor`s but anyway there only 1 or 2 breeders who could even offer one of these animals in the country. and it so happened i know who owns the actual animal in the pic and its one of the breeders hold backs wich he still owns and hes a huge name in the industry gray russian at allboas.com but it just goes to show these types of scammers are still very much out here and hard at work im just glad i caught this individule and contacted gray before this guy made a fast buck and a huge one at that! the fellow still tryed to argue the animal in this pic was produced by him untill i sent him the whole history of that animal and the whole photo album from wich he stold the pic from and now he wont reply to me! its just a shame there are people out here with the nerve to take someone elses hard work and perseverance and stake claim to it for themselves. anyhow take care and best of luck in youre projects regards

Thanks a bunch! That's why I'm a little hesitant about buying from the internet except from people I've heard of. But yea, this particular pet store is a specialty shop for reptiles, and they have some good quality animals as well. I'd trust them, just not the internet or some other people

The white snake with the purple/grey head is a Super Mojave (Mojave x Mojave).

The darkest one shown is a Super Mystic ( Mystic x Mystic)

The other middle sized is my Mystic Potion (Mystic x Mojave)

Without the Mystic you can't make the 2 colored snakes, that is why it is more valuable than just a Mojave , plus the Mojaves are more common and have been around alot longer. Yes they look like dark ugly Mojave but they aren't . Just like a Cinnamon and a Black Pastel are 2 different yet similiar genes as well.
