Outdoor cages for Columbian & Golds

justancguy Sep 25, 2003 01:44 AM

Two questions-
Are outdoor enclosures feasible for these species. I know they are further north than Argentines, and the same information as far as hibernation and outdoor temp. extremes may not apply.

Also, will a Golden and Columbian get along?? My roommate has one, I have the other, we want to keep them in an outdoor pen together. Thanks!

Golds and colombians are the same thing. The only way to find out for sure if they will get along or not is to put them both on neutral ground and see how they respond to each other.

Thanks for the reply! I bought the little Gold today, it is about 10" long and plump! He is a little aggressive, but the Columbian that we have is around 10 months old and quite larger than the Gold at this point. So, my question is, should we wait until the Gold is a bit larger to introduce them, or can we introduce after the quarantine period? Thanks again....Also, I've read that Columbians do not hibernate as Argentines do, so, should we not cycle them this year? Or at all? We want to eventually breed
