a rheostat, if i plugged it into the wall and then plugged a like 4 plug adapter thing into it would it still work or would i have to get another rheostat??????

Thermostats are much more reliable for keeping steady temps than Rheostats are. My understanding with Rheostats is that you can't set a specific temperature for them to aim at. You adjust it until it is the right temp, but then if the room temp goes up or down whatever is hooked to the Rheostat will go up or down. If your Rheostat only has one outlet to plug one thing in I would not trust it to run 4 things with an adapter. And by the time you go buy 4 more Rheostats you'll spend enough that it would just make more sense to buy one Thermostat. Most, if not all, Thermostats come with a power strip so you can plug multiple things into it without messing with adapters. You can set what temperature to heat to, and then not worry about it if the base room temp fluxuates.
