Crystal question

kingofspades Aug 29, 2010 10:23 PM

I probably asked this before...but has anyone bred the crystal gene into lessers, butters or mystic/phantoms?
I'd love to see if it has similar results as it does to mojaves.

I don't know for sure but I think that the only lesser crystal produced so far has been by BHB and he used his own line of special.

I am breeding my Super Crystal into a couple Mystics this season. Hope to make the Mystic Crystal yet before winter hits. Don't see it looking alot different than a base Crystal actually so I'm making that cross not for it's visual looks but for it's genetic power... People will know if I make the cross this year.

I have produced a white snake with yellow tint from a lesser to a special. No one has done a Tom Baker Special to a lesser. I proved the special by producing a crystal this year when breed to a mojave. Tom has seen my specials in person and agrees that is what they are. I think the BHB lesser crystal will be something different than what Tom, Bruce and I have produced. Looking at what the lesser and the mojave produce when paired with the phantom, the speciall may do the samething. Producing a white snake with a lesser and a paterned snake with a mojave. We just need a Tom Baker special breed to a lesser.

Here is a picture of a special/lesser.

So far the Baker Gene does NOT make things into White. Even a Sulfur/Fire Crystal isn't an all white snake, you can still very much make out pattern and color in the 2 Sulfur Crystals I just made. One would think that a Lesser Crystal from the Baker line would look ALOT like a Sulfur Crystal as the Fire and the Lesser both lighten things up about the same , the Lesser would be an allele to the Special/Crystal gene that would be the only major difference I could see changing it into a white snake . IF there's one gene that I think won't make a patternless white snake in the BEL complex when bred to a lesser it would be the Crystal/Special gene in my opinion. I do also know the snake your talking about Marshall that made your white snakes and that hatching for you earlier this year and to me that original female looks FAR more like a Mystic/Phantom / or even a Sutherland Mocha than it does any Baker Special I have made or seen (and I've seen/made more than a handful of Baker Specials already) so either you have a different line that will act differently than a Baker Special or there may also be something else going on genetically the way I see it (your snake could be a triple instead of a double in otherwords). Specials DO NOT look at all like wanna be Mojaves and that's what your original founding female looks like ! Specials look visually speaking only like Vin Russo Het for White Diamonds actually and NOT at all like a Mojave /Phantom /Mystic at all and your original female looks nothing like a Russo or a Special. That's the reason why you thought she was a imported Phantom for all this time, she doesn't look like a Russo at all and is alot more like a Phantom type. Your white snakes (Lesser x original import mom) do look alot like RDR Karma's until I see more pics of the Phantom Mojave Supers (Phantom Potions) and how much those actually vary alot there still is unanswered questions here . Just my 2 cents on the subject as I am familiar with ALL this myself, time will prove out the true answers but I doubt my theories are off by much!
