Clutch temps

snakekate Aug 30, 2010 09:32 AM

I am currently incubating my first clutch of cali king eggs, and I am curious as to when they might hatch, but I have no prior experience to compare from before. They were laid on July 23rd, and are almost 40 days old. They are all big, white and round with no dimples. I have been incubating them in my reptile room, they reach a day temp of 82 and drop to about 78-76 degrees at night. Am am not using and incubator because I dont want to risk a heat spike. Any way I'd appreciate other breeders predictions based on their own experiences, so I know roughly when I should prepare for neonates, thanks!

I incubated all my eggs the same way and at the same temps roughly. Pueblan Milksnake eggs took 68-71 days to hatch, My sinaloan took 73 days and my L.p.knoblochi took 78-82 days. So I would imagine it will be in the 68-75 day range. Don't forget humidity will play a factor also. Some of the other guys will probably chime in also.

I have incubated my eggs at about 80. It takes about 60 days at those temps. Earlier in the year the temps in my snakeroom were running about 72. That clutch took about 90 days to hatch out.
