Genetics check...having a senior moment

HGCexotics Aug 30, 2010 05:34 PM

Hi all,
I just want to check my pairing's outcome and cannot come to terms with the genetics. I keep second guessing myself.

Bred a pastel DH ghost/pied male x spider female

Ended up w/ 2 pastels and 3 spiders. My question is, are the spiders poss het ghost/pied at all since dad was a carrier? Logic would say yes since if you bred a the above male x normal female you'd get all 50% dh offspring (either visually showing pastel or WT).

So any animal produced should be poss dh, correct?

I keep convincing myself it is only from the mother, however and confusing myeself.

Confirmations or corrections appreciated
thanks

No expert but would there be a chance that they maybe single het also? like spider het pied and pastel het ghost?

Thanks, sorry, that's what I meant with the poss dh. Either poss het one, the other or both. Thanks for the clarification.

If the male was 100% DH ghost and pied, then each baby will be 50% het pied and 50% het ghost, in addition to any visual co-dom morphs that they have.

They are all possible double het meaning there is 50% chance they are het for ghost and another 50% het for pied.

I appreciate it. Love those senior moments, lol

Nit picking but while these are double 50% chance hets the combined chance of being het for both recessive genes is only 25%. There is also only a 25% chance of being het for neither.

You are right.
At that point is what you write on them.
What's the real term
