Fall timing in Texas.......

RandJ Aug 31, 2010 11:19 AM

Finally able to get the family down south on a fall vacation.
Ive been an advid field herper since I was in the 6th grade (and Im now 37 )
I have just not made to many trips directly south.
My question is this though.....we are leaving Oct 6th.....is this too late for good photo ops into Ok and northern Tx?
In the Ft. Worth area?

Heh. I've found snakes out most months, but you're certainly out of the sweet spot (at least here in Amarillo). You might get lucky though...

It will depend allot on the weather at that time, which can vary greatly over the course of a day (have seen 50 degree swing in a few hours). If there has been some cooler weather and it turns warm then you might quiet a bit of activity.

Sorry it was supposed to read "might see quiet a bit of activity"

Seasonally? No, its fine. After the rain & storms of the first cold front of the Fall(almost) having past, there should be plenty out & about.
But you'll need to get outside the urban DFW area. I'd head south or west, if I were you.
