A pair of headshots, '08 Guyana BCC male

Jonathan_Brady Aug 31, 2010 12:53 PM

This little guy was produced here by pairing Rose X Mr. Incredible. Both parents were born in captivity to females captured gravid in the Essequibo River area - near the mouth of the river, one in '01, the other in '04. He was my holdback male.

Today I was playing around with my 60mm macro lens, so there are no full body shots. I was in the shade (as much as possible) so these are not as sharp as they could be had I been in direct sunlight.

The first pic is at FULL resolution. I only cropped the photo, I didn't resize it. No sharpening either. No changes were made in any other way except to convert it from RAW to jpg. In fact, I didn't even open photoshop, I used the bundled software from Canon (Digital Photo Professional) which took me quite some time to figure out how to crop the dang thing!

I was pretty happy with the results on that one

The second photo, same thing. Except, I resized it.

I wasn't nearly as happy with that one (it's actually rather blurry at full resolution), but it was ok enough to share once it was resized.

That's it!

All of these were taken with the stock lens for my Canon Rebel XSi. It's a 18-55mm IS lens.

Below is the same picture, just cropped and not reduced in size

A lot of these aren't as sharp. But, it's because the lens isn't as good as the macro lens. And also because I was trying to get more of the animal in focus.

Same mother (Rose), but different father. I don't have specific locality information on the male that sired the '07 litter. He was another that was born in captivity to a WC gravid female - we just don't know where she was collected. So, the animals in this litter are just "Guyanese BCC", and not of a specific locality within Guyana.

These pics were taken a while back, but I thought I'd post them again.

Thanks for looking!

Great pics, do you focus them yourself or use auto focus?
