Potty train a Snake?!

LightElf Aug 31, 2010 06:18 PM

I know its possible 2 potty train snakes, why? bc I've noticed my macklots only goes to the bathroom in places that have waste or dust of some type there. He even holds it in for like weeks, and since his viv is really clean n has plantlife he wont go there. Anyway, he left my room and went into the bathroom, in there there's this plant soil and some dead leaves on the floor from a plant I repotted. He went to the bathroom on it! And I noticed when i was taking care of an iguana it did the same thing, you had 2 put waste stuff in a bowl and he'd go in it. So yea, any thoughts on this? I really believe it's possible to keep a snake in a room, it's what they really want you know.

I've heard of indigo snakes being "taught" to go only in plant pots, but just remember that it is the snake that decides, not you. At the end of the day you cannot really "get" a snake to do anything, it will do it on its own accord, and that's that.

I'm sure if the python were given run of a room and had pots like you said, you wouldn't have a problem, your snake seems pretty intelligent, but you may want to try it in a smaller cage at first just to make sure it is consistent.
