what is the prefered method of sexing monitors and other large scaled lizards? thanks

"large scaled lizards"? Monitors range from 8 inches to over 10 ft, all lizards have scales, or how about this, they have small scales, tegus have large scales. You can compare every species male to female and find a few external differences in most easily, but you would truthfully need to reference and learn from 2 known lizard adults. Some the females have bulges in the tail base, but the males have BULGES in the tail base, some the male has a thicker bigger head, some the male has spurs, some the male gets bigger, some the male has a blockier thicher set of jawbones, etc etc etc.
