Mosaic Eastern Kings

mhaze Sep 02, 2010 11:41 AM

I've been interested in these for a while, and recently acquired this trio (last female pictured twice). I'd think by now there are some people here keeping these, but I haven't seen much for photos on the forum. I'd love to see more.

Male:

Female:

Redish Female (I'm told the redish ones don't end up any different than the rest):

They've got spunk!

Funny how my money looks like a guitar sometimes, ha!

I know that some of these are reluctant rodent feeders out of the egg. I got lucky I suppose. good luck with yours if you get them.

Looks like a kingsnake eating a coral snake.... the body in that you see most of is a coral snake.

>>Looks like a kingsnake eating a coral snake.... the body in that you see most of is a coral snake.

that was my first thought but that loop top center looks like it has a white/cream venter. is this a coral eating a scarlet? c'mon, give us an explanation (and maybe another pic!)

DMong Sep 04, 2010 02:57 PM

That is indeed a coral eating a Scarlet Snake(Cemophora coccinea)

The Scarlet snake is wrapped around the Corals head,Kinda like tape"very interesting preventive measure"I kept the Scarlet for 2 days after this encounter and it appearantly never got a taste of poison it survived and was released

mhaze Sep 04, 2010 03:49 PM

Cool observation and photo. The scarlet had a size deficit as well. That's survival.

Not to change the subject, but I was at the Raliegh,NC show today. That's about all there is to say about it.

Cheers, TGIS, etc.
