Help baby will not shed!!

amos1974 Sep 02, 2010 12:53 PM

Hi I hatched a clutch Of Lessers and all the babies shed 3 days ago but one the shed looks to be stuck. After hatching I set them up in a new tub wet paper towels, water bowl then back in the incubator. This is the 2nd time this has happened this year I had a set of twins and one didn't shed and died. He was only 19 grams. The other one was 24 grams good shed but took 5+ weeks to start to eat. after his first meal he ate every time even in shed he is 100+ grams now. So have you had this happen to you? What can I do to help? Thanks your response, Jason

if i get a snake that is haveing a problem shedding i put it in a small 5 qt tub by itself and put 2 paper towels in the bottom folded in half. i then soak the paper towels in water. i mean soak like sopping wet. i then put a decorative rock for a fish tank that has a hole in the center and is rough on the outside, its like man made sand stone. usually within an hour they have completely shed. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR SNAKE IN THE TUB FOR MORE THAN A COUPLE OF HOURS. if too long your snake can develop scale problems due to the constant moisture. im not sur how long it would take to cause an issue but i never leave mine for more than a couple hours. its always worked the first time around.
