Incubators.

t_corey89 Sep 02, 2010 07:19 PM

Can someone help me get an incubator. im looking for something not too big but not small, i want to have the simplest one i can find right now. like automatic temps and humidity gauges and stuff. one of my females laid 10 eggs last year and is ready to go again this year, so im hoping to get at least 15 eggs total from her and from my het albino female. i just want to make sure the incubator is a quality one and not too over complicated to get working. thanks for any input.

Hi,

I was going to recommend Natures Spirit but since Casey is injured they won't be taking orders or sending out any incubators for at least 6 months...I hope you get well soon Casey...Good luck with the rehab. I can't recommend any thing else accept to build your own. Good Luck.

Regards,
Bill Rubin

I use a mini fridge with 1ft of 11inch flex watt in the bottom hooked to a herpstat.. Works just fine for me. I dont use any fans in it I just open the door every 2 or 3 days to circulate the air.

I've heard good things about the reptibator which is usually good priced - about $125 on beanfarm.com (i believe). You should be able to put two clutches in it. But other than that, most people i talk to make their own.

Of course you don't have to do it as extravagant as this...so it can be cheaper, and smaller.
Cooler incubator build

Just a warning...it smaller than it looks. I was using Glad food containers...that only fit 5 eggs per box, and could only fit 3.

Just a heads up.

I understand what your saying and I appreciate you trying to look out for me. But I think I'd rather buy the whole thing and have everything 100% working. I'd rather have the right thing instead of harming the babies with something that's only halfazz done. I'm sure I could build one but I think for my first clutch I just want to be safe... You know what I'm saying.

Oh it makes sense, I was just letting you know what I learned from experience.
I only had 5 eggs last season and they all hatched just fine in the Reptipro 5000.
