Lost Corn Snake

IrikVelt Sep 02, 2010 09:37 PM

Hey guys,

Maybe it's redundant to write a post about this since so many people seem to have covered this territory, but I figured I'd take a shot at it anyway.

I have two corns, both about 5-6 months old. Last Monday my girlfriend was feeding one and left them in the feeder tank without the lid on and fell asleep. Needless to say I ended up with one missing corn snake and a whole lot of heartache.

It's been a week now, and I've tried laying down flour to catch her trail and catch her with tasty mouse treats, but I'm paranoid that maybe she got into a garbage bin and thrown away, or maybe wedged out the side of my air conditioner and fell to her demise five stories down or down a bathtub drain pipe or any number of other nightmare scenarios.

Guess I'm looking for ideas, and advise as to whether or not those nightmare scenarios are plausible or whether I'm just being a paranoid and overworried parent. Also any other ideas about where to track her down wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the help guys,
- Irik

Here's my advise, and I'm not being flippant. Wait six months to a year and it will likely reappear, none the worse for wear. Sounds like you may live in an apartment; that's quite a bit different froom my more rural environment, so things may not work out so well for you. I've lost a few over the years, most recently a striped amel yearling. He showed up this summer cooling it out on my front porch. Rarely have I ever recovered one simply by searching for it. Little devils are good at hiding in plain site. Hope it shows up or is recovered. Don't give up hope if it doesn't show up soon.
