Bearded Dragon Eye bulge

tool_u2 Sep 25, 2003 08:52 AM

Okay, so I have this baby bearded dragon. Every once in a while it'll do this really weird behavior where it bulges its eyes out for about 30 sec. and then it goes back to normal. Is this something I should be concerned about? I'm guessing it may be either a thermo- or water regulatory behavior. I mist his cage often and he's very healthy (eats well and is very active). I'm just wondering if this is something I should be concerned about. Anyone know what causes a bearded dragon to bulge his/her eyes? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Don't worry the eye bulge is common with bearded dragons and many other lizards I am guessing (my chameleon did it). From what I know it is just a way of cleaning there eyes out. They may have gotten some sand, calcium powder, or something else in it. I freaked out about this when I got my first chameleon he did it alot after spraying. The breeder told me it was normal and just a way to clean.
