Brumation question

dragonzilla Sep 04, 2010 11:31 AM

The past three days my dragon starts his day sleeping under his rocks, he also went from a going crazy after crickets untill he was full to only chasing a few down and just a little bit of greens. He's 17" 315 grams not losing weight but not as perky. I think he is about 6 to 8 months old. With the recent cold nights could he be getting ready for brumation? I heard they don't brumate their first year. he still eats superworms. temps are right on hot and cool. Any ideas?

Some dragons brumate their first year and some never brumate. There is no standard or rule despite what most books say.

Most seem to slow down and eat less this time of year. I would just keep monitoring his weight. If he's not losing weight that's a good sign. Hopefully at his weight he'll keep gaining just at a slower pace.
