King Snakes illegal in states?

mrgiraffe Sep 06, 2010 08:11 AM

Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting a striped king snake. Which lead me to thinking about states and there pet import laws since I will be moving out of my state in the future. Unfortunately I am unsure where I am moving to yet, so I have a simple yet complex question.

Are king snakes illegal to own/import in any parts of the United States?

p.s I noticed there was a state laws page but I was unable to find information on some states (eg. New York).

Thanks Giraffe

If you want to know about a specific state...google that state's regulations....IE NYS DEC.
If you want to know NY...giant snakes and monitors are illegal (any python bigger than a boa constrictor (14ft)) monitors bigger than savannahs. Venomous and endangered need permits. NYCity has it's own whole set of bans. If PA is close enough they have a much more open minded law.
