ENTERPRISE-RECORD (Chico, California) 03 September 10 Attempt on snake causes accident
Elk Creek: The pickup of a Willows man who allegedly stopped in the northbound lane and got out to kill a snake, was struck by a southbound truck Wednesday.
The driver and a passenger reportedly left both doors open to the pickup as they exited about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 306.
The driver's side door was partially hanging over the southbound lane.
The men were on the side of the road trying to dispose of the snake when a vehicle approaching from the south swerved and barely avoided a collision. A man in a pickup behind the first didn't see the stopped car in time and struck the open door.
No injuries were reported and damage was minor.
