How can you tell if eyecaps have been retained after a shed?

JLC Sep 25, 2003 10:21 AM

Hey all...

Caesar finally shed for us, and it seemed to all come off in one piece. Looking at the skin though, I could only find half of the head/face scales. On the half that I did find, it looked like they "eye" was there, but I've never looked at one before, so am not 100% sure of what I'm seeing.

On close examination of Caesar, it looks like he has a little ring around each eye, like tiny little eyeglass frames. It makes his eyes look a little bugged out, but they are clear and alert. He's not overly head-shy if you move slow and easy. Before his shed, I never thought to look at his eyes this closely before, so maybe they always looked like this?

So anyhow...all that to say...what do retained eyecaps look like? And if you believe it could be that, what should I do for him?

Thanks ya'll!!!
Judy
