Granite Lemon Blast? (OPINIONS PLEASE)

Lizards of Oz Sep 08, 2010 09:01 AM

I just hatched out this really nice looking Lemon Blast that is pretty heavily speckled. Others I have hatched have not had near this amount of speckling. His mother does have some granite markings to her, but I never really gave them much thought until I saw this guy pop out that looks just like a Granite Lemon Blast to me. What do you guys think?

The mom is deep in shed right now, but I will post pics once she sheds. The clutch had two fathers, so I got VPI Sugars/Calicos (possible granites), normals, a possible Granite Pastel, and this possible Granite Lemon Blast. I also double checked a "normal" male I produced with her last year and sure enough he has some granite markings as well. Pretty cool stuff if she is a genetic granite as I am thinking because I have been looking to buy some genetic granites and may have had one all along and didn't even realize it. I will have pics of mom and the rest of the clutch soon.

How about this one?

Yeah, that looks a lot like him to me. I would say I am pretty much positive that's what I have now after going through the clutch mates and seeing quite a bit of granite markings on them as well. I think I also have a granite calico and a granite pastel. Now I wonder how many genetic granites I sold from this female over the years without realizing what they were Oh well, at least I know now.

Here are a couple VPI Sugar siblings (same mother different father) that also appear to carry the Granite trait.

Here are some possible normal Granite siblings. They might even be low grade VPI Sugars, but I'll have to grow them a little bit to tell for sure.

This was a "normal" male left over from last year that I never got around to selling. He was produced by the same female bred to a Yellow Belly male and sure enough when I checked he had the same Granite markings. I also have a couple female Yellow Belly's from that same clutch with some Granite markings. I didn't get any Ebony's though which I believe can sonetimes be produced between a Yellow Belly and a Genetic Granite.
