25% Guyanan-Glow litter first shed pics.

treystowell Sep 09, 2010 10:33 AM

Well this was my last 2010 litter and was not sure what would come of it since the it was fathered/sired by the same 18-month old youngster I produced in 2008 ... the male sunglow male that sired sunglow litter #2 for me this year. After he was done with the female he was on and still early enough in the year, I just couldn't help sticking him on a 50% Guyanan female of Mike Weitzman stock (thanks MIKE . I just shot them the other day and thought I would share with everyone ... so hope you enjoy looking.

First is the 'pick of the litter' male sunglow ... imo, is proly the best all around sunglow (saddle wise at least) I produced this year. all babies have that GREAT BCC influence (huge red side medallions & tail targets, etc.). So ... On to the 4 pics of him ....

Here is the nicest female sunglow (imo) from the litter. She has totally different look regarding saddles/pattern and color tones (than male above). Her are a few pics of her ...

Then here are a few others babies from the litter I thought I'd post rather than only the sunglows. This litter total (13) was comprised of 4 sunglows, 2 albinos, 4 Dh sunglows & 3 normals). So, here is one other glow (another not pictured was in deep shed), a few albinos, few Dh's and few hets ...

Questions for BCC breeders: I am not sure if the fact that the offspring in this litter have 25% BCC/Guyanan blood, or just the line and/or combo of lines, but these are the biggest, most solid feeling babies from birth (still yet) that I have ever seen. They are bigger than (outta the gate) than any clutch I have ever seen ... and I had some good ones this year ... so that is saying alot. Anyone ever heard of BCC neo's coming into the world like this (bigger/more solid than most BCI stock)? My one litter of 25% suri albinos last year also were larger than typically seen, but it was very small and only one stood out as VERY big/robust ... so those of you who have done a good deal BCC breedings over the years along with BCI stuff ... your thoughts are appreciated on this subject please THANK YOU .

As always, THANKS a million, I hope you enjoyed looking and hope everyone is happy, healthy and all is as you would like it to be (personally and professionally)!!!

Warm Personal Regards to All,

Great color! They probably turned out big because the parents are so unrelated. What bloodline is the father?

treystowell Sep 10, 2010 12:21 AM

The father was an second generation outcrossing I produced here in 2008 from a stripline het normal x Dh sunglow paring. The generation before that prduced the female DH SG was a nice coral albino bred to a very pink salmon ... which made the first sh/hets on side of litter gandmother in that 2008 breeding and where most of the color is from.

So this would be at least the 3rd generation (I know of) in a row of outcrssed breedings, and only the second to produce homo specimens from the line. So that is a good call and could be just what it's due too ... cause this 2008 sunglow I produced here was also bred this season to another strong genticly ourcrossed coral albno (produced by Shane Kinney in 2005) that gave me an even more amazingly colored litter of 32 babies (one above gave me 13 wigglers), that are almost as hearty and well built, and are compared to most neos are ... just this litter is outta this world big n robust.
