Egg oddities?

snakekate Sep 11, 2010 09:21 AM

I have a clutch of cali king snake eggs that are around 50 day old, one of them recently developed a bluish line looks sort off like a bruise. Its not a cut line or anything, its under the surface of the egg. Its maybe an inch long and and has a blotchy, broken up look. The egg is otherwise normal looking, no dimples yet and non of the other ones have it. Any ideas what might be going on?

It looks just like that but only in one spot and minus the head! Kinda hoping its just a part of the baby? Any how thanks for the pic, I couldn't find one like that anywhere!

My eggs looked like this toward the end. Its like there are real thin areas that are like plastic windows and you can see the dark snake inside. I think someone said it could be due to a calcium deficiency in the mothers diet.
