my baby ball tried to eat my girlfriend!!!!!

ritamcfarsons Sep 25, 2003 11:57 AM

i have had him for 2 weeks and since he is eating well i took him out yesterday and it was fine.... today i took him out again to show to my girlfriend and when he was in front of her he struck out at my girlfreind's forhead... he didn't bite cos he is still very small and couldn't grab her head..... i told her that he tried to eat her because of her pointed nose like a mouse.... but is this true??

there were no signs of fear or of attack he was quite in my hands... shall i beware when i take him out again or is just something personal between them?

thanks a lot

(ps... she is beside me now and wants to point out that she is not a witch)

No its nothing personal between your g/f and the snake. Usually snakes are calm when they are handled and especially when just left alone in one's hand. However, once another person comes up, it is more likely to strike at this object. Also the head is very warm, so the snake knew it could be a preditor. I would continue to handle it periodically and let it get used to being out of the cage. I would just try and handle it without making any quick movements in front of the snake, including just someone walking up. Once it is used to being out, it should get more used to people moving in front of it, without getting too scared. Hope that helps.

But I AM a witch and my snakes have never bitten me. Maybe she should try it. Maybe it would help.
