I promised myself I would not get addicted to alterna again, but I couldn't resist these perfect looking blairs phase hatchlings.....

Both are Howard Draw locale and should be screamer adults.....

That is exactly the kind of alternas I love! If you get tired of them I have a good home with all the pinks and or lizards they could want!

I Think even to the uninitiated with Snakes, When they glimpse a good looking light gray Grayband they just get momentarily taken with that certain combination of colors.

Yep...I believe that is why many from all over the nation and other nations flock to West Texas every Summer......One of the most sought after wild snakes in the world....IMHO......

While I like the Dark Gray, I think the light gray in my opinion is nicer looking. Man it is sooo.. hard to keep discipline and keep just a small collection these days when you check out other peoples stuff. I need to go to a meeting or something.
Good luck with them John.

LOL...my favorites are the BLACK XMAS Mountain Alternas....I don't have any yet but I do have a nice Black Gap male that should be pretty dark as an adult.....

Man, IMO alternas need to be one extreme or the other LOL!! Either super light groundcolor, or extremely dark. Regardless if blairs phase or alterna phase. I like the one you posted above. When you see that basically black on black with a bit of orange popping out, WOW!!!!

Thats exactly what I am talking about!! I had an intermediate xmas mtns. male several years ago. He had the alternates going on with the orange banding as well. So dark, the alternates looked like black on black, but the orange was contrasty as all heck!! Man, I loved the look of that snake!

mzillig Sep 13, 2010 05:56 PM

John,
She had some really intense orange, and nice dark gray. Beautiful snake.
