Hmmm...I still think the neat splotchy one is a Super Pewter, but I will concede that it very well could be a Paradox Pewter Pied. Going to hold it back and breed it out?

Definitely not a Super Pewter Pied. The Paradox animal was from Pewter het Pied X Pewter. I am certain however, the Pewter Pied is what it is.....It was from Pewter het Pied X Pastel het Pied. I didn't plan on holding much back this year, but I'm not complaining.

Those are all so nice.

That 'paradox' one is so unique.

Perhaps its a paradox pewter pied and the pewter pied is the 'usual' look we can 'expect'?? (ohhhh, that crazy Piebald gene...)

Whatever it is it's unique.
Talk about a keeper, eh.

You may have inadvertently made the first 'Cow Ball'.
(Those grEy and white cows they have in the UK and elsewhere...)

Congrats on allllll of 'em!

Thanks. No Pied in it other than it being a possible het. I still think there may be something else going on with the Dam to these animals. As you said, it is unique. One more shot at a Pewter/Sterling Pied due in about a week.

Brandon,
First off congrats on some fantastic animals.
That bloched purple one is my personal favorite BP produced this season that i have seen pics of to date.
So based on the parents, it could be a super pewter het pied, maybe with all those copies of cinni and pastel combined with the single copy of pied and even though it is a recessive gene it is being partially expressed now since there are many other mutant genes being expressed in combination, because it certainly has a "pieish" effect look to it?
Or perhaps there is something genetic with the dame to that is partially reactive to the single copy of pied too?
Either way I hope you will do follow up breedings to charaterize it and detirmine exactly what genes are present, so maybe you can make a whole bunch more of them. By the way is that animal a male or female?

Wanted to add that while this may in fact just be a simple random paradox event and not reproducible, as seen so many times before, my idea or theory was that with all the multi combos, and all of these genes that produce morphs may also have linkages to other (hidden, not visually expressed)genes that we don't realize or see or really don't have any effect and are not expressed in a way that we see, but with all the multi gene combos now some of these combinations might have a cumulative effect of making a paradox like event and having the effect of a partially expressed phenotype, like a "pie-ish" from a single copy (heterozygous) of a recessive gene (piebald in this instance), that would in fact be reproducible with that combination. Much in the same way that certain reproducible negative neurological effects have been seen in certain multi gene combos, I think when more and more morph genes are combined we will see more and more unexpected expression of genes or different phenotype effects or neurological effects, due to whats going on with the "other" linked genes, both the good and the bad. I'm not saying I'm right, or this is fact, just ideas, food for thought if you will.
