My new lewisi.. =)

Extreemosaurus Sep 14, 2010 04:37 PM

What do you guys think? =D

the pic is taken with a cellphone camera...

At first when i got her she was cold and almost looked like a normal cuban.. but when she got warmed up i just went WOW!!!! she looked so much different than the others i have.. she is pink green and a little metallic with blueish gray..

And her head is so much longer and less wide than my other lewisi hybrids....

She is from Juergen schmidt..

I don't know about anyone else, but I can't tell anything from that pic. Please try to take pictures with a real camera. Those phone pics SUCK. Sorry, but there is nothing gained by that picture.

Eshan, mate..don't invest to much in animals..buy a camera

I was in luck to see it live @Terraristika.. Looked slightly differnt from the coloration than my lewisi-crosses, but lets wait until it is bigger...

Extreemosaurus Sep 15, 2010 05:25 AM

HAHA Karsten my friend sure just for you!...=) i have a good camera.. but i lost the cord to connect it to my computer =/ anyhow i thought it looked like a normal hybrid at hamm when she was cold.. but now she is so different.. i have cleaned all the cages today and i put all in the same cage so i can clean the others.. and i took pictures of the lewisi next to your hybrids.. she is very different.. i will post the pics later when i have time..

And what happen to my german beer??? =D haha

Cheers!

kboht Sep 15, 2010 06:35 AM

well..Hamm was very busy.. But I have had several beers.. You was late .. head shape lokked different to mine to..

Have had an inetersting conversation with Jürgen today. He mentioned that the animals i have are nubila nubila from a dedicated region in Cuba - Majari Holguin -. That was the same information I got from Jiri Gabris who has also a breeding stock of the PragueZoo Bloodline..

toffeeman Sep 15, 2010 08:26 AM

ive had 6 cubans of jiri gabris 4 look like normal cubans 1 looks caymenensis and the other looks like a lewisi x

kboht Sep 15, 2010 08:45 AM

are they from the same clutch? My male suddenly died..but I have 8eggs which should hatch in 3 weeks..so I will keep that bloodline..

my rocks looks like this:

Extreemosaurus Sep 15, 2010 08:58 AM

Karsten it was his clutch i told you about! they all looked different hehe.. are you sure they are pure Cuban? did juergen say that they look like that in nature but they are pure nubila?

Your male looked great! too bad he passed away =/

Enjoy the pics! im sure this lewisi is pure now.. she is still so small but the colors are incredible.. and today she was so sky blue on the top of her head!

toffeeman Sep 15, 2010 11:28 AM

all 6 cubans of jiri are different one of the males is gold and yelow, one has more blue in it, one of the females is pink and brown with no banding at all, then the other 3 have bandingand are dark, ehsan said he thinks they are related to yours

Extreemosaurus Sep 15, 2010 11:44 AM

yes they are all from the same line i think... Karsten the two i got from you look very different from eachother..
"the female is olive green and yellow with strong black contrast bands

and the male is brownish yellow with rusty red sides and back.. and low-contrast black bands.. the bands almost blend in.. and his head is yellow

John what do you think of the new lewisi? im waiting on a male to hatch..

Cheers mate!

toffeeman Sep 15, 2010 12:06 PM

hi ehsan think she looks great how much did you pay juergen for her

Extreemosaurus Sep 15, 2010 12:15 PM

Check your mail =)
Cheers Mate !

yakob Sep 15, 2010 03:35 PM

I may be wrong here, but as far as I know Juergen's lewisi are not verified as pure lewisi..correct? I know I read a post from him stating this.

Extreemosaurus Sep 15, 2010 11:39 PM

yes you are correct.. because no one does DNA testing on them here in Europe.. and for testing in the USA u need Cites permits for the samples from the animals to be able to send it over for testing....

however the background is clear to him he said..

the only risk is if they are of the wild hybrids.. i know that they have tested a few in the wild that are extremly pure hybrids..

It doesnt matter really ... i have seen the best hybrids in the USA in real life with my own eyes and nothing is close to what she already looks like as a yearling.. so she looks 100% pure...

Extreemosaurus Sep 15, 2010 11:46 PM

Interesting link ... i didnt know that

TOM_CRUTCHFIELD Sep 16, 2010 05:07 PM

Bernard Lewis in his early publications talks of Cyclura n. caymanensis being released in the 1940's or earlier on Grand Cayman. Read his work and you will see I'm telling you the facts. My question is ARE THERE ANY REAL PURE ONES THERE AT ALL? I mentioned this in my paper on the first captive reproduction of C. lewisi given at the IHS Meeting in San Diego in the early to middle 1980's....NO ONE SINCE TO MY KNOWLEDGE HAS EVER MENTIONED THIS FACT....

Yes Tom i agree! Caymanensis where released there in the 1940's and no lewisi line in captivity is older than from the 1970's to my knowlidge.. am i right? my lewisi females bloodline comes from a group of lewisi directly imported to Europe from GC in the 70's.. and juergen knows exacty who and how they have been breeding them since then and is confident that they havent been crossed in Europe..
So the only risk is that they are natural hybrids from the wild.. but still then they should be minimum 95-99% pure and look 100% by now...

Thanks

kboht Sep 16, 2010 12:49 AM

lets wait what Mark M. or Tom Crutchfield thinks about the pureness..he should have some thing to compare ..

*joking mode on*
or is he still in jail :D

*joking mode off*

TOM_CRUTCHFIELD Sep 16, 2010 05:10 PM

IT LOOKS ABOUT AS GOOD AS IT GETS....It may well be lewisi but read my other post. What is a real lewisi today?

Cheers! Ehsan=)

kboht Sep 16, 2010 12:32 AM

well thinking is not knowing My iguanase are 100% from the bloodline of prague Zoo.. As I stated in an eralier post the information Jürgen provides yesterday is exactly the same as Jiri did a couple of years ago. As of an information from Mr.Rehak from PragueZoo the origin of their bloodline was Cuba. The animals where inported and come from the region -Majari Holguin- .

I will doublecheck again with John Binns..He told on that topic that C.nubila nubila has no blueish coloration at all..

How old are your nubilas from Jiri? Can you post some pictures?

toffeeman Sep 16, 2010 02:32 AM

if you send me your email address to johnskelton2@sky.com i will send you some pics of my cubans later today

colaris Sep 17, 2010 04:39 AM

Well 100% pure or otherwise you got yourself a extremelly nice lizard men Will too get me some Cyclura one day but not yet

kboht Sep 16, 2010 03:30 AM

Will chip right side of the neck with 3month..

Eventually I will get an adult Nubila male (Prague Zoo) from Jürgen.. likes to keep that bloodline alive..

So for Cornuta I haven't enough room

Extreemosaurus Sep 16, 2010 06:39 AM

yes do that =) and keep one female for me..

Thanks mate!

Extreemosaurus Sep 16, 2010 06:42 AM

Or you can tell your wife your turning the bedroom into a new cyclura terrarium for the cornutas HAHA =)

kboht Sep 16, 2010 07:38 AM

she would kill me.. I am more a friend of natural looking cages which costs more work than breeding facilities.. 2 different specs are more than enough beside work, family and the other hobbies..
