Upcoming Breeding Season

JoshMolone Sep 15, 2010 06:34 PM

Ive had my BPs off heat for about 2 months because of the move, building Rack, ect ect.
Its taken so long because schools been busy and my dad just got a new job.
I have them in a "Snake Room", AKA My walk-in Closet, that is about 80 Degrees.
All the heat should be up this weekend.
I was wondering, do you think I still have time to heat them back up, and cool them around December?
They are all eating, and have great weights.

If I cool at all I only drop the thermostats by maybe 2 or 3 degrees. They should breed without cooling them.

So do I just put the Male in with the female?
No cooling?
Ive always heard they wont breed unless cooled.
How long should I put the Male in with the Female?
And what time of the year?
Sorry for all the questions, all my years of keeping Ball Pythons are finally leading up to my first year breeding, and I want it to go well!

I put the male in with the female, 3 days in, then three days out. I typically start pairing anywhere from the last week of september through mid october, and I keep going until they stop showing any interest in each other (usually around january for me). From what I've heard, I start a little earlier than most folks. You may need to wait until October or november to start pairing. I'm hoping mine do well this year, I just moved in March, so I'm hoping the move didn't put them off of breeding for the next decade or so.

...a little heat for them for a cople months won't hurt them...
