Speckled kingsnake morph

FoxTurtle Sep 15, 2010 08:51 PM

A friend of mine received this snake in trade. It was labeled as a "Mosaic Speckled King".

I vaguely remember someone selling these at Daytona maybe 6-8 years ago. They were locality specific, and grew huge for speckled kings. Maybe they were called "checkerboards". Not sure, I could be completely off. I only saw them in passing at that show.

Anyway, if anyone knows anything about these, please do share!

I personally have never heard of nor have I ever seen a mosaic holbrooki, but there were lots of amel and normal checkered speckled kings years ago......If I were a gambling man I would bet the locality origin of that snake is EAST of the Mississippi River.....And probably has some Meansi, Goini, Eastern or Floridana influence....LOL Thus the large size for a Holbrooki....

You like that Nick?
I'm not one to say that it IS or ISN'T pure, but that thing doesn't look like any Speckled Kings we have WEST of the Mississippi River.....LOL

It must be WAYY east of the Miss. River as well, cause it looks nothing like anything I have seen in Louisiana, or the southern part of Mississisppi.

Well, this is assumedly a pattern morph, so I'm sure its not typical of any well known population. I wish I paid more attention!
