Hypo?

firewater Sep 17, 2010 11:32 AM

I got this boa the other night from a guy who wasn't interested in it and wanted to focus on his ball pythons. He said it was a hypo boa...I just wanted to make sure I do have a hypo boa. Here is a picture of him. Thanks!

That is not a hypo. It looks like a normal.

I'm sorry you were lied to.

firewater Sep 17, 2010 12:06 PM

That would explain why I got it for free....thank you guys for being honest.

It is a pretty normal. Good for free in any event. One of the coolest litters from last year came from two free normals that were bred together, in the litter the guy got 5 pure patternless animals, all from a pair of normal rescues that were free.

Can anyone post a picture of a hypo? I have googled it but they all look different, so I want to make sure I get it right next time I get a "hypo" boa. Thanks again guys!

firewater Sep 17, 2010 03:14 PM

So is he a common boa or a red tail?

LarM Sep 17, 2010 11:24 PM

Yours is a common Boa most likely Bci . The True Redtails are Bcc,
That type of Boa comes from countries like Peru , or Brazil, on
over to Guyana and Suriname.

Most Boas you see are common Colombian type Boas.

Although there are more and more diverse types of Boas in the
hobby these days.

WOW....amazing pictures! I definitely can see the difference. I feel stupid now lol. Lesson learned. You have amazing boas and thank you for taking the time to post all of these pictures! Haha dont worry Boacraze, if my boa was a nice looking boa, I would be posting alot of pictures lol.

But anyway, thank you guys! I am not sure if I will keep him. This is a great forum! I definitely will be back on the forums here...I have other snakes (ball pythons, bloods, corns, etc.)

LarM Sep 18, 2010 12:08 PM

Thx for the compliments, firewater do you know if your Boa is male or fem ?

From looking at it I think its a male but . . . . .

If its a fem I would keep it for certain , it has some size to it.

Your Boa appears to be a decent normal type Boa, I suggest you
keep it and learn from it.

Observe it get to know its behavior, Every Boa is a Good Boa !!

They are all beautiful, some are more beautiful ha ha, but really
I Luv them all , Boas are the Best!!

That boa is gorgeous! I never was a big fan of boas...only pythons (ball pythons and bloods) but your boas are amazing!

firewater Sep 18, 2010 12:24 PM

Yes its a male. I didn't get this boa for breeding purpose, my girlfriend always wanted a boa...her dream boa is sunglow boa. But she was excited about me getting a "hypo" for her....eh I feel bad now, I should have done my research, I honestly though a hypo meant less spots, I didn't realize there was a difference in color. Well now after feeling dumb, I know to research next time!

Im drooling over your Solar/Soler Pastel! Do you have any sunglows? If so, can you post pictures?

LarM Sep 18, 2010 04:50 PM

Thx, Yep those Soler Pastels are het Albino, can't wait to pair them up.

I don't have any Sunglows nor have I produced any yet.

I'm in the process of getting a Trey Stowell Sunglow.

>>Can anyone post a picture of a hypo? I have googled it but they all look different, so I want to make sure I get it right next time I get a "hypo" boa. Thanks again guys!

Here are a couple other hypos....

Isis 09' 0.1 Super Reduced Reverse Stripe Hypo 50% Panamanian

Keyana 10' 0.1 Monster tail pastel dream orange tail hypo

Kendra 10' 0.1 Monster tail pastel dream orange tail hypo

Simbu 05' 1.0 WC Full Reverse Stripe Hypo Panamanian

Envy 07' 0.1 Reverse Stripe Hypo 100% het Albino (DH sunglow)

So as you can see, hypos have quite a variable appearance to them. These are just a few that we are working with right now with the hopes of producing some nice selective bred animals. Envy is meeting a Ronne line pastel albino in a month with the hopes of producing some reverse stripe pastel sunglows. Hope these pics help.
