I know cage size for Monitors is about design. And i know with your experience you know how to lay out a cage more efficiently-but i was wondering what size cages do you use for your larger monitors like Crocs and Bluetail Monitors. Thanks Moe

Let me answer for Jobi, if I may. All monitors have lots and lots and lots of really interesting behaviors. They are animals that do things.

The more you give them to do, the more fun it is for you. This is a concept that folks have a hard time thinking about.

The smaller the cage, even if all temps are right, the less you will see and that means the less enjoyment it is for you.

So you can keep monitors in tiny cages and keep them alive, or you can give them more to do and allow them more of a life and more enjoyment for you.

Monitors are more then an animal that eats craps drinks and then does it over again. So how much you want to enjoy them, is based on you and what your willing to support.

So to put a size on a cage can only limit you. Cheers

Thats a great answer, and should apply to any animal/fish/reptile that has to live in a cage. Think of yourelf if all you had was your bedroom to live in, how often would you get up and walk around the bed not to often I bet.Now add your hole house, and then your yard. now your town/city it gets better for you every time you upgrade. Its the same for the animal. Its a shame that space always restricts good people from having things they would like to have. But it needs to be considered(more seriously than it is sometimes). Sorry I got of and running with that one. The point is you should provide as large of an enviroment as you can properly provide, for any living thing in a cage. This is not directed at anybody just thought it fit the conversation. thanks for reading.

thanks Paradon, of three responses you're the only one who read the question. But we did get two great answers to another question? It's like you ask people the size of their cages and you think the answer will influence others-people are going to do what they do,you can try to point them in the right direction, that's all you can do.People are either going to get proper monitor husbandry or not.I'm trying-i ask what size enclosures people have for their large monitors, i get Texas

I think the other posters are basically saying, provide the largest cage you have space for.
An adult salvadorii needs minimum(in my opinion) 12'Lx6'Dx8'H.(thats minimum) I would make it bigger for a pair or if you have the space. Just remember crocs are active intelligent lizards that will use and explore every bit of space you can give them. That is why a lot of people discourage the average keeper from owning them. They need a lot of space. I'm building a seperate building for my large lizards. Just think BIG.
